You don’t have to do this alone
Caring for someone with dementia is a marathon, and it can feel lonely. Our monthly Caregiver Support Group is a place to sit down with people who understand: to talk, to listen, to laugh, and to leave a little lighter.
When: The third Wednesday of every month, 2:00 to 3:00 PM
Where: Wisteria Gardens, 14162 Gibralter Rd, Anacortes
Cost: Free
Who: Family members, spouses, partners and friends caring for someone living with dementia or another memory or movement change
Built-in respite
The group meets during the last hour of the AOFC day. If your loved one is a Member, they’ll be enjoying the afternoon with friends nearby while you take this hour for yourself. When the group ends, you’ll pick them up together with everyone else.
What to expect
This is a peer-led, self-guided group. There’s no lecture and no pressure to share. Each month, care partners come together to:
- Talk honestly about what’s hard and what’s working
- Swap practical tips, from bath time to doctor visits
- Share local resources that have helped
- Celebrate small wins and good days
- Simply be with others who get it
What’s said in the group stays in the group.
Come as you are
You don’t need to sign up, and you don’t need to have a loved one enrolled at the Club. Come once or come every month. If you’d like a reminder before each meeting, send us a note and we’ll add you to the list.
